For many centuries, Africa remained an ignored part of the world, considered as home to uncultured and uncivilized ethnicities. Europeans never tended to look up to Africa and recognize what later changed their attitudes towards the continent. It was not until the 17th century that European explorers reached the land and were left simply amazed due to the splendors of African culture and landscapes. Today’s high frequency services of Nigeria flights from all over Europe are a result of these early trails into the underestimated land.

As the Europeans landed in Africa centuries ago, their minds that recognized Africa as a land of uncultured natives got highly inspired by African architecture, arts and crafts. Since then, African art has not only been recognized world over but it also adds to the collections of many European and American museums.

Nigeria is one such country where Europeans stepped somewhere in 1600s. They got so much inspired by what they took as lack of civilization, that they eventually came to conquer the land in the late 19th century. Natural resources found in the lands of Africa should be one reason why Europeans had wars over conquering lands in the continent, but the impact that African arts and cultures left on them is considerable. European writers have, at many times, highlighted the contrast in European thoughts before and after the real side of Africa was revealed to them.

Ancient African construction comprised primarily of mud molded into different geometrical shapes. Other construction materials were wood, stone, palm, grass and vegetables. Although it sounds a bit naïve, it is a point to note that the modern organized and clean European cities have all been inspired from ancient African cities. According to Claudia Zaslavsky, the clean and organized African cities with well laid streets were very new to Europeans at the time they set out to explore the continent.

It was since colonization that Africans merged European influences into their ways of life. Hence the architecture of the continent was also highly affected due to colonization. Today, beautiful buildings line the streets and suburbs of Nigerian cities like Lagos and Abuja. Most of the ancient construction has disappeared with time but the good thing is that modern African architecture is not purely European. It rather well blends African traditions with all modern amenities to make an unparalleled modern African building. Especially the city of Abuja is highly filled with such architecture and the city’s architectural works are considered to be one of the major reasons of Abuja being highly visited by tourists. The modern African architecture, unlike ancient one, comprises more intricate shapes and bigger structures. Futuristic designs of modern African buildings still portray the centuries old African cultures. Like before, African architecture stands unique in attribute and is still an attraction for those who understand this field.

Lagos is the gateway to Nigeria that takes travelers and tourists all this unmatchable beauty of the country. It is the well established economy and politics in the country that allows its splendors to be explored. Hence many airlines around the globe offer Nigeria flights.

KLM Royal Dutch Airline, Delta Airlines, Emirates, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic are the most preferred airlines amongst tourists for cheap flights to Nigeria.
